Building a Culture of Life Across the Generations

We often talk about building a culture of life, but what does it look like?

Upon what is it founded and how it is built?

How does God's view of men, women, and relationships differ from the world?

What are the consequences of our choices?

This revised and updated reproducible Bible Study by Linda Bartlett (complete with leader's guide), is a helpful tool for college students, single adults, husbands and wives, parents, pastors, and those who work with family life ministries or serve at caring pregnancy centers.  Twelve (12) lessons may be used in a series or separately, by individuals or small groups, in the home or at retreat.

Topics include:

  1.  Modern Woman - Today's woman has been wounded by the consequences of ungodly ideas which promised freedom.  What is the freedom and hope of Biblical womanhood?

  2.  Modern Man

  3. - today's man has been wounded by the consequences of ungodly ideas which promised power.  What is the powerful influence and hope of Biblical manhood?

  4.  The Failure of Feminism - Modern feminists betrayed early feminists and rebelled against God.  Today, women are more vulnerable, men are not held to accountability, and children are at greater risk.  What changes bring hope to society?

  5.  The Sexual Revolution and Abuse of Sex - The world tempts men and women to "sexual" living, but God calls us to holy living.  What does God have to say about purity, modesty and mystery?

  6.  A Woman's Choice? - Abortion is not natural.  It ends a precious life created and redeemed by God; it deeply wounds women and men.  What does God ask of fathers and mothers?

  7.  The Impact of Abortion on Society and Relationships  - Death has been offered as a "solution" for problems of life.  What impact does this have on the culture?  How do we welcome those who grieve?  Where is hope found?

  8.  Husbands and Wives - The sexual revolution scoffed at marriage.  Today's "social engineers" are tampering with marriage.  How does God's plan for marriage honor men and women, care for children and sustain society?

  9.  To Compete or Complete? - Equal does not mean "being the same".  How does knowing God's design for male and female help eliminate competition and promote harmony?

  10.  The Hand that Rocks the Cradle - Motherhood has taken a beating by modern society.  But God's view of mothers differs from the world's.  Why is motherhood an extraordinary vocation?  What does God say about this noble role?

  11.  Heroes in a Culture of Life - Fatherhood has taken a beating too!  But fathers like Todd Beamer are willing to offer their lives so that others might live.  Why is fatherhood an extraordinary vocation?  What does God say about "heroes"?

  12.  Bearers and Defenders of Life - Discussion  of women in combat brings mixes reactions, but what does God say?  Is it a "life" issue?  How can the practice of Biblical manhood and womanhood help keep society out of harm's way?

  13.  Building a Culture of Life  - In the midst of despair and death, our souls long for hope and life.  Apart from God, we are wandering and lost but, in Jesus Christ, we know the way!  With the Living Word, we can transform the culture by loving others as ourselves!
