Opportunities to Build Hope

Raise sons to chivalry and daughters to purity

TO BE A WOMAN

I am a human being of the female gender.

I was created by God to be equal to, but uniquely different from, the male.

I am not just a little higher than the animals, but just a little lower than the angels.

God loved me and knew the plan for my life before I was conceived.

Before my parents knew I existed, God had already knit me together in my mother’s womb. He was – and still is – personally involved in my life.

I am loved by God!

I am rescued from my sinful thoughts and behavior by Jesus Christ!

U

My life as a woman is an opportunity to glorify God!

It is an adventure!

The way I choose to live my life as a woman

will either honor God – or not.

So…

How shall I live?

AS A WOMAN, HOW SHALL I LIVE?

I will live as...

  •  a creation of God!

Q: Am I here on earth by chance or design? (Isaiah 44:24)

  •  a masterpiece of God!

Q: Is it o.k. to like myself?  (Psalm 139: 13-16)

  • a daughter of God because of what Jesus has done for me!

Q: What is my identity and how does it affect my  behavior?
                    (2 Corinthians 6:18)

  • a woman who does not put her trust in fickle emotions but instead, focuses on what is right and good in God's sight.

Q: If I focus on Jesus, how will my attitude, dress, and behavior

 change? (Hebrews 12:2-3)

  • a woman equal to but different from a man.

Q: Did God create male and female at the same time, in the same
way, or for the same purpose?      (Genesis 2:7, 15, 18, 22)

  • a woman called to maintain the mystery!

Q: What does it mean to be “modest”? (1 Timothy 2:9-10)

  • a holy - not sexy - woman!

Q: How can I glorify God by trying to live a holy life?(1 Thes 4:3-5;7)

  • a woman filled with the Holy Spirit!

Q: Who lives in me and what does this mean? (1 Cor 6:19-20)

  • a woman who recognizes the difference between love and sex.

Q: How does God’s love differ from “soap opera” love?(1Cor 13:4-7)

  • a woman who is not tempted by the unnatural.

Q: Is homosexuality natural according to God? (Romans 1:21-27)

  •  as a young woman who stands up for what is right!

Q: Can a young woman have an impact on the culture?(1 Tim 4:12)

  •  as woman who values the high calling of motherhood!

Q: When a pregnancy is unplanned, what does God ask the mother
and father to do? (Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Matthew 19:14

  • a woman filled with HOPE!

Q: Even if my choices have left me exposed and ashamed, what
hope is there for me? (Isaiah 61:10)

  •  a woman who is forgiven and set free!

Q: Am I forever soiled by past mistakes or can my stains be blotted
                out? (Isaiah 1:18; 1 John 1:9)

  MORE QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER –

·        From where did I come?  When I die, where am I going?  How do the answers to these questions affect my life and the lives of others?

·        Am I a sexual being captive to sexual desires, or a human being of the female gender with sexual desires that can be controlled?

·        What does it mean to be a godly woman?

·        What is a godly man and how will I find him?

·        Why did God make clothes for Adam and Eve after their sin?  How does He use natural feelings of shame and embarrassment as our protection?

·        What Is the definition of going “too far”?

·        Does God’s love set boundaries?  Why or why not?  What might some of those boundaries for male and female relationships be?

·        Do clothes provide covering for the parts of my body God wants untouched until marriage?  Is this God’s way of spoiling my fun… or protecting me and my boyfriend?

·        If I have crossed God’s boundaries and sinned against Him, is it ever too late to start over?  What does Jesus’ forgiveness mean for me?

·        Why would I want to be sexually intimate with a man who does not love me enough to wait for sex until marriage?

·        Number the following in the order God would place them:

parenthood – sexual intercourse – friendship – trust – marriage.

·        Does God approve of living together or “shacking up”?  Why or why not?

·        Which can I trust: my feelings or God’s Word?

·        If I wait to be sexually intimate until marriage, what message will I give my husband on our wedding night?

·        What if I failed to wait for my husband on our wedding night and, instead, chose to be sexually intimate before marriage?  What hope is there for me?

·        Someday, I hope to wear a white wedding dress because it means I will have waited patiently for my husband and the intimate act of sex on our wedding night, but… what if I never marry?  Am I saving myself for the Bridegroom Jesus who will come for me and take me to His home in heaven?

·        Who loves me more than anyone else does?

God says:
I know what I'm planning for you;
I'm planning to make you happy
and not to harm you,
to give you a future
you can hope for.
